First Ice Fishing Trip

My friend Josh and I went ice fishing up to Echo Reservoir yesterday.  It was a good day.  It started out at 9 degrees and warmed up to around 35 degrees by the time that we left.  I caught 3 the biggest being 18" and the other two were 12".  Josh caught a few also and his two boys that came with us actually caught more than we did.  It was fun to get out and catch some fish through the ice again.

The Boulders

Labor Day weekend I had the opportunity to go up to the Boulder Mountains with my Brother and his Family to do some fishing.
 Donkey Reservoir
Donkey was full of 12" fish that hit every time I casted.  It was blast to be up there.

This fish is beautiful.  It put up a good fight  as well.

Donkey Reservoir.  We went here Friday night after we got situated.  It was close enough to get  a couple hours of fishing in.
The first fish of the morning.

Nice glassy lake first thing in the morning.  Seeing this had me itchin to get the float tube pumped up and out on the water.
A 13" boulder brookie with beautiful colors.  These mountain lakes are known for there Brook Trout.

My brother Dan getting his flies situated and deciding which one to use.
A nicer brook.  This one put up a good fight and I was excited to see it on the end of my line.

Here is a 19 inch cutt from Cleveland Reservoir up by Electric Lake.

Here is a 17 inch Rainbow from Cleveland.

One of the 19 inch cutts from Electric Lake. These fish are beautifully colored.

The second 19 incher from Electric Lake.

And a 16 incher from Electric.

Well today I went with Lauries Grandpa, Uncle and Cousins Husband up to Electric Lake. It was a very cold, but successful day. By the end of the day we had caught our limit for each of us and not to mention three 19 inch trout.

Strawberry - October 25

I went up to Strawberry Reservoir this morning. Got there at 630 and fished for a couple of hours. When I got there the fish were jumping like crazy going after all the chubs that are easy pickins this tie of year. The cutthroat trout from strawberry are very aggressive and hungry getting ready for the ice to cover the lake so they are like a bear getting ready to hibernate they eat anything and a lot of it. I had a blast. Oh I took the boys to strawberry on tuesday and caught a 22 incher. These fish bring my total fish of 20 inches or more this year to 10. It has been a great year!

Strawberry Reservoir - July 19

I went to Strawberry Reservoir with six other guys and had a blast. I left at 4 am and didn't get back until 11pm. This is the weirdest reservoir to fish because it has a slot limit, you can't keep and fish within 15 and 22 inches, but anything under that and over that you can keep. I caught 7 fish total. I kept one that was 15 inches and the rest were 20-21 inches. It was weird saying, "oh it is just a 20 inch fish you gotta throw it back" where anywhere else a 20 inch fish is a monster. I caught one that was 24 inches, but I never got it up to the net. The net was in the water and then he shook my hook out of his mouth it was a beautiful fish I only wish that I had a picture of it. I do however have a picture in my head that will last, but nobody else will see that one.

A 20 incher
Here is the boat that we were fishing from. It was comfortable and there was plenty of room for each of us to catch some fish.
At the dock we did our part to help control the chub population. We caught about 75 of these filthy dirty things, popped the air bladder and sent them to the bottom of the lake. They are an infestation at Strawberry.

Garfield Creek - June 28

I went to Cedar City to go to Hanks blessing and Laurie and the boys were in California. Dan and I wanted to fishing so we decided to go to a secret little stream that holds some monster 10 inch cutthroats and 8 inch Brook Trout. They may not be the biggest fish but the scenery and the creek are beautiful.
